"I have been using a prototype "Brand New" Intaglio Press with a 22.5 inch bed for about eight months now. I have printed several hundred impressions on it in that time. The new Brand keeps all of the proven features of the old Charles Brand presses intact while improving on its few weak points.
I expect my new Brand to easily outlast me. The new design is smart, it's printing is flawless. It is easier to use than the older design and certainly simpler to adjust and service should it ever need it. The New Brand is a professional level machine and I recommend it to any intaglio printmaker."
The drive is a time tested 25 to 1 shaft mounted commercial gear box. This is an expensive drive box and is the very best. We have used this type of drive for over 50 years and have never had a failure.
The frame is constructed from 5/8" x 8" solid aircraft aluminum alloy plate. This material is stronger than steel and saves weight.
We offer the traditional 1" thick precision ground steel considered by most printmakers to be the Cadillac of bed plates. If a lighter bedplate is desired, a 1" thick aluminum alloy is offered.
The upper roll is larger and heavier. It is constructed from 8 5/8" dia. extra heavy steel tubing making it stronger with less flex.
All Brand New etching presses come standard with microgauges. These micro-gauges are calibrated to .005” per line. The Conrad Machine Co. microgauges are the best in the printmaking industry.
Bigger bearing shaft sizes are used in all models. These bearings are bigger than our competitors by as much as 50%. This will eliminate shaft flex or breakage under heavy printing conditions like photo gravure.
Bedplate is guided horizontally by 8 roller bearings and supported vertically by 8 additional roller bearings.
All Conrad Machine Co. Presses come with the printmaking industry's best 25 Year Warranty. We here at Conrad Machine Co. believe in our products and workmanship, so much so, that we will repair or replace any defects in materials or workmanship for the first 25 years of the life of your printmaking press.
